That's why Legends of Runeterra gives you daily rewards. Player retention is really important, and daily quests (or whatever you call them) are a nice way to achieve that : I'm doing at least two bot games on Heroes of the Storm each day solely for the daily quest (and it makes some nice routine). Give a real reason to play daily : This game has no permanent daily stuff to entice players to log in regularly - and no, I don't count the "first win of the day" bonus, as it's fairly hidden. Also, everyone loves loot boxes (see Overwatch). Legends of Runeterra gives you a crapton of varied loot boxes that can be opened with Hextech crafting, and gives Hextech crafting stuff. Promote Hextech crafting : I really like the system, but I think it's kinda poorly used as of now (I'll probably talk a bit about that once the Arcade event finishes).

Being active in the story makes the player more invested, and maybe willing to see more of that story. The ongoing lore rework is pumping out a high number of stories and places, but it's mostly limited to text and a few animations or comics. Promote League's lore : Obviously, this is done by putting the players head first in an important part of Runeterra's history such as the fall of Shurima, or the Harrowing on Bilgewater.
